20090505_g10

...here are a couple Canon G10 images from SF a few weeks back.
simple enough to drive & shoot through the windshield -
but is that all i use this camera for? Blog Fodder?... i think so.
When i first got it i took it with me a bunch & thought it was fulfilling a need i had... what i gave up was pocket size-ability & what i gained was a 'good' camera with tons of potential, that i don't need & won't realize - cause i have other cameras that are good at being really good.
i miss my pocket camera.
any suggestions?

It's like camping isn't it? People get redicolous RVs to get as close as possible to the comfort and crap you have at home. But it doesn't make you very free what the purpose should have been in the first place.

In times where people show off their so called iPhone Art at every corner, I find it very hard to say - but, a phone camera can be pretty sweet. You know what you gonna get, it so obvious it doesn't even make you say 'I wish I had a better camera' and gives you freedom to shoot whatever to shut up your inner voice that tells you to take a picture.

Yes, my iPhone camera has suddenly became a useful tool with the addition of camerabag and quadcamera. Just made it more fun. Oddly enough, my other point and shoot has become an Olympus Pen EE.

i hear you guys about the iphone... i try & put iphone pics up on twitter/facebook & maybe thats all i need...
The G10 has it's place for sure... maybe i should stop shooting it in RAW & expecting the images to live up to 1DS or 5D's.
Kale, send me some 1/2 frame snaps.

I think you just need bigger pockets. Maybe some sweat pants or those baggy animal print ones that weight lifters wear. I have seen lots of great phone picts but every time I see one I can't help but wonder how much better it would have been if it was not taken with a phone.

good point, do they still make 'cargo' pants....?

i have the g10 and a ricoh grd2. the ricoh is just this weird awesome little camera. it has its own little quirks as well though. but overall two good cameras that do different things.

Thanks Wes, yeah i like that little Ricoh, i had one & now that you mention it, i don't know where it went.
felt like a Lomo.

I sold my g10, was too big to be a pocket cam, not good enough to take place of my one series' cams. Use my phone or old, clapped out sd750 for running around pics.

As for RV's
we got one
we did a week at the beach, I used to camp in a tent as a kid, hated it....love RVing.

How about a camera pouch you can put on a belt like Terry Richardson & Chris McPherson?
